Welcome to my first post in a monthly series to highlight my favorite activewear pieces, outfits, and wish-list items. This post is a bit late because I was waiting for the good weather this past weekend for pictures. I went onto my roof since I have a view of Downtown Pittsburgh, but the sun wasn’t right. I took the shots the other way with the view of a hillside neighborhood in the background.

Favorite Running Outfit
With so much cold weather, most of my outfits were the same because I always wore the same shell pants (Lululemon Beat the Sleet Pants) and jackets (Lululemon Spring Forward, Miss Misty, and Raindrop jackets) as windproof outer layers. My favorite outfit was one I actually only got to wear once when it wasn’t as cold. I got the Speed Tights marked down as part of my Boxing Day haul. While I didn’t think they were as compressive as my other speed tights, I fell in love with them when I wore them. I love the pattern, and they’re as comfortable and flattering as my other Speed Tights. I think these work well with a plain neutral top and like it paired with my white Athleta Plush Tech hoodie from last year.
Lululemon Speed Tights (pattern no longer available)
Lululemon Grape First Base Rulu Tank (style no longer available)
Lululemon Pretty Purple All Sport Bra (color no longer available)
Athleta White Plush Tech Hoodie (the newer version is currently on sale from $24.99 – $57.99)
Favorite New Running Piece
I wore my new Michi Plum Stardust Crops yesterday for a run and am in love! As with the Vyper and Hydra Crops, the inside is lined with a soft material. I worried that these might be too hot for running in the low 50s, but the mesh on the side kept me cool and comfortable. I think I could wear these for temps in the mid-40s to mid-50s. Like my other Michi crops, the waistband sat high and didn’t budge.
Running Gear Workhorse
The Lululemon Beat the Sleet Pants are no longer available, but they’re essentially a weather-resistant shell that you can likely find at most outdoors stores, like these ones from Columbia. I wore these nearly every day this month and don’t think I could survive winter training without them.
Indoors Workout Favorite Outfit
I love the winter color combo of Bordeaux Drama In the Flow Crops paired with my Parallel Stripe Push Your Limits Tank. I wore this outfit for strength training in my home gym.
Most Cozy Lounging Outfit
Last spring I bought Lululemon Herringbone Wunder Under Pants on sale and had to wait for this winter to wear them. They’re thick, warm, and incredibly cozy. While no longer available, I’ve heard that the Coco Pique and Diamond Jacquard are nicely thick and warm. I’m waiting for those to be marked down and think I’ll pick up another pair because I’ve gotten a ton of use out of my herringbone ones.
The Athleta Cozy Karma Hoodie is lined with thick plush and is super warm. I like the deep wine shade of the Chianti color, which was one of Athleta’s big fall colors. Paired with the herringbone WUPs, this was the perfect cold-weather weekend outfit.
Favorite Dog-Walking Outfit
The gorgeous weather this past weekend was perfect for long walks with greyhound Django. I have two favorite outfits, but I’ll be doing a separate post of the other with lots of photos my husband took on our urban hike through the city. In this outfit I’m wearing the Lululemon Forage Teal Denim Wunder Under Pants that I got on markdown, my Bruised Berry Cool Racer Back tank, and Heathered Slate Pace Pusher Longsleeve. It was soooo nice to go out without a jacket! The Pace Pusher has a little zippered pocket in the back, so I put my poop bags and keys in there and didn’t have to bring a purse.
At the end of December, I returned my Lululemon Runderful Pants and bought two pieces I had debated getting. The first was the Menthol Hit Your Stride Skirt. I balked at the price increase when it first came out. But my white Hit Your Stride was one of my favorite pieces from 2015 and probably my favorite running skirt, and menthol is one of my favorite colors. I pulled the trigger just in time because it sold out shortly after I ordered it. I really love the Flash Light color but am trying to hold myself back!
I also got the white Sculpt Tank. The Sculpt was also a 2015 favorite, and I like to wear light colors on really hot days. Plus, I actually don’t have a plain white running tank!
I also got the Fleur Sombre White Silver Fox/White Fast Paced Run Visor. I wore my white visor so much last summer. The wide brim kept the sun off my face and helped me feel cool. Silver Fox is one of my favorite colors, so when the visor came out in a pretty white and Silver Fox print, I had to have it!
I love this whole outfit (and hey, it matches my new blog design!) and just need warm weather to come to wear it!
This past weekend EMS had a 60% off flash sale. I had a $25 coupon I had to use by the end of January, and everything was marked down so much that it was a steal. I got a running jacket, shorts, dress, longsleeve tee, hat, and hoodie. I’ve only ever had a fleece from EMS, and that was years ago, so I’m curious to see how everything is. My shipment is due to come in two weeks, and I’ll have a review up then.
New Brand to Check Out
Have you seen the new activewear line from Express? I like pretty much everything in it. I don’t need anything right now, but I’d like to go to a store to check some things out…if they have activewear in stores? I haven’t been to an Express in year! Here are a few things I love.
I need a new jacket! I wore the same Lululemon Purple Fog Spring Forward Jacket all last winter and this winter. You know, the one I have on in every single picture! It’s served me well, but I’m tired of it. I was looking for a new jacket last year but didn’t see any I liked. I just ordered one on sale from EMS, but I’d like one with a weather-resistant outer. I’ll be on the lookout this year.
Every since the kerfluffle with Athleta stealing K-Deer’s designs, I’ve been lusting after the K-Deer Jody stripe legging. I think this might be my next purchase.
And speaking of Athleta, they finally released a few things I like. I’m loving this ombre Chat Tight. It also comes in a pretty purple, but I need to repeat to myself: I do NOT need any more purple tights. I have a 20% coupon plus tons of rewards, so these would be free.
These would go with a lot of my outfits. Super cute!
