When Alo Yoga had a Memorial Day sale, I bought some pieces I’ve been eyeing. I couldn’t find any reviews on any of these pieces, so I guessed at sizes.
I ordered the Vapor Tank in size medium in Vapor Grey. The color is a very light grey with flecks of slightly darker grey. It will go with pretty much everything I have. This tank is very loose-fitting; I could definitely have gotten a small. But the larger size makes it longer, and I don’t have a lot of long tanks. The back completely covers my bum. Even with a larger size, the back draped nicely. I really liked the loose, comfy fit of this tank and kept it. I’ve worn it several times for casual wear on really hot days and really liked it. Just last weekend I wore it to brunch with a friend and hiking afterward; it transitions nicely from casual wear to activewear. The open back helped keep me cool, and the no-fuss fit was ideal when I was sweating buckets and didn’t want to adjust my clothes. I also like the subtle mesh detail on the straps and back. The loose fit looks best with tights or skinny jeans. I think it’s too big to wear with shorts or a skirt, but sizing down would help. The fabric is a knit that feels like cotton. Overall, this is a great summer tank! If it goes on sale in another color I like, I might try the small size.
I also ordered the Vitalize Tank in Lavender Heather, a very light purple similar to Lululemon’s Pretty Purple. I also ordered this in medium. When it came, the tag actually said small/medium. I wish the website would have noted that one size is really two sizes. I really loved the style of this tank. The fabric was silky and sleek-feeling. The mesh in the back was gorgeous. The fit is loose and flowing, and there’s a tighter band at the bottom. Unfortunately, this tank was too short on me. And because the bottom was tight and the fabric was slick, it was riding up just when I was moving around. Alo Yoga doesn’t offer exchanges, only returns, so I returned this. Since the next size up would be medium/large, I think the size up would be too big. Plus, it still would likely ride up. While this tank is very pretty, it was a pass for me.
Sweat It Trunk Shorts
Okay, so I bought booty shorts! If I want to continue pole, I’ll need them. I ordered these in the black glossy in size medium. The style is really adorable. The sides have a drawstring that you can cinch up. But the cutest aspect is the ruching on the butt seam, which definitely does a booty good! If you like short shorts, these are super cute! Unfortunately, they didn’t work for me. They were a bit too tight, and I just couldn’t get the leg openings to lay right so that I was comfortable. I might have considered trying a size larger if Alo permitted exchanges, but since they don’t, back these went. (Note–no pictures! I wasn’t comfortable enough to take pics.)
Also, the logo was subtle on the tanks because it’s light, but you can see it stands out on the shorts.
The return process was easy. I just emailed customer service, who gave me a return authorization number and the opportunity for them to send me a return label for a $5 charge deducted from my return. I chose to pay for the $5 label.
While I really love the Vapor Tank, I’m going to think carefully about ordering from Alo again since the sizing isn’t consistent and returns aren’t free. But I’ll be on the lookout for Alo items available from other retailers where returns are free.
