I’ll be running the following races as part of my marathon training.
Two Face 10K–Trail Race | August 15, 2016
This race includes a road 10K followed by a trail 10K in North Park. I’m going to do just the trail 10K. This run is supposed to be a recovery run in my training, so my coach said I need to take this really easy. I’m looking forward to it because it will be my first trail race!
Canby Dahlia Half Marathon | August 27, 2016
This is a race near Portland, Oregon, where I’ll be for part of my vacation. I’ll be doing this race as my long run, which works out really well since I won’t have to worry about where I’ll do my long run that weekend. The next weekend will be tougher because I couldn’t find a local race, and I’m not sure yet where I’ll run. But I’ll cross that road later. This race sounds nice because it goes through fields of dahlias in bloom. It’s also a smaller race, which I like.
Montour Trail Half Marathon | September 10, 2016
This was my first half marathon and was a complete disaster. I swore I’d never do it again. However, the rails-to-trail course is very similar to my goal race course, so it will be good to use this as a long run.
Buffalo Creek Half Marathon | October 15, 2016
My coach wants me to use this race as a simulation run. That means I’ll be running it at my marathon pace and will be practicing the pacing and fueling I plan to use in my race. This race is also on a rails-to-trail course and is my favorite race because of the beautiful scenery and fall foliage. I’ve done it the past three years and am happy I’ll get to do it again this year.
Fellow Pittsburghers, will I see you at any of these races?
