One of the Fabletics outfits for June, the oddly named Birdum, had my name written all over it. The pretty greyish purple and ivory color palette and the interesting spiral mesh detail (that I’ve loved in more expensive Michi crops) were instant love at first sight.
I’ve been a Fabletics VIP member for a few years and am still a fan. Their designs and features are continually evolving. I have 8 pair of their crops alone—more than any other brand. That said, a lot of their pieces are hit-or-miss for me, and I usually end up returning as much as I keep (returning is so easy and doesn’t cost anything). That’s what happened with the June outfit.
Brogan Mesh Capri
These are as gorgeous in person as they are online. I love the purple Dove shade, and ivory is a nice complement. White is common, but you don’t find ivory a lot. The two spiral details are made of an ivory mesh and a solid ivory fabric.
I ordered these in size medium—my standard size in Fabletics crops—and they fit the same as all the other Fabletics crops I have (Salar and Lima). Last month I tried a new pair of crops with mesh details similar to this one, and it ran very tight, with the result that my leg pudged out in the mesh insets—not a good look! These Brogan Mesh Capris did not do that.
The rise is normal—slightly below the belly button—and they are opaque, even in this light color. The fabric is similar to other Fabletics bottoms–a matte, cottony fabric, which I prefer over slicker fabrics. The only thing about these, which I’ve found on recent pairs of other crops, is that the fabric is pretty thin and can show panty lines, lumps, and bumps. This isn’t a big deal for me since most of my tanks are longer and cover my bum. Also like other Fabletics crops, there’s a waistband pocket.
These capris are definitely a keeper! My Fabletics crops are my go-to for everyday wear, dog walks, and biking/walking to work—basically, when I need a comfortable, sweat-wicking bottom but don’t want to wear my more expensive pieces. I’ve worn them running a few times, and they don’t slide down, but I prefer other bottoms for running.
I really liked this tank when I took it out of the package. The fabric is soft, cottony, and lightweight. The ivory color goes so well with the purple shade. A new Fabletics feature is a tiny metal logo sewn on the shirt instead of a sticker—a nice touch!
And then I put it on. Um….it’s more of a bib than a tank! I ordered it in a size medium, and it fit great in the front. Then I looked at the back in the mirror and realized it essentially has no back. If a breeze came or I lifted my hands, I’d be giving everyone a show. No thanks! Too bad. If it would have had a back, I’d have kept it! Note that in the photo from the website above, the model is holding the top down, which you’d need to do to keep it from looking like this:
Lenni Sports Bra
So cute…but so non-functional! I think the only way you could wear this bra in public is either if you are small-chested or if you don’t care about showing the world your goods. And the front straps across the chest do not lie flat and are bumpy under tanks. So, unfortunately, this bra is going back too. Of course, maybe I’d keep it if I looked like Kate Hudson in it…
