When I got my Lay Low Tank from Beyond Yoga (my review), I didn’t love how my bras looked with the halter style. I set out to find a halter style bra that would work with that tank as well as other high-neck tanks I have. I found the Absolutely Mesh Dot Halter Bra on sale from Beyond Yoga so decided to try it.
This is the first bra I’ve tried from Beyond Yoga. Most of my bras are from Lululemon because the fit and sizing are pretty consistent. I have a few from Lorna Jane and a few from Fabletics. I’m a little hesitant to try bras from other brands because bras can be such a wild card. Beyond Yoga has free shipping and returns on orders more than $100, and since I planned to order $100, I decided it would be low-risk to try it. I was very happy with this bra!
First, I have to talk about the style. It’s absolutely adorable. The mesh on its own would be cute, but the tiny polka dots give it more interest plus a touch of whimsy. The overall effect is cute but not cutesy. If you’re up for walking around in just a bra, this is the bra you need. It’s so cute that it could be worn on its own. It was easy to get on and off, without feeling like the mesh was going to rip. The mesh is also functional in that it provides ventilation for my chest and back, which tend to sweat a lot.
I ordered a medium. The cups are just a tad too small so that I have a little bit of overflow on the low-cut sides. I considered returning it for that reason, but I loved this bra too much to give it up! The overflow is not too noticeable, plus, I still have a few pounds to lose. If you have a problem with spilling out over cups in general, this bra probably won’t work for you because the sides are very low cut. Otherwise, the medium fit great. This is my first halter-style bra, so I at first noticed the straps more than I do on regular bras. But after having it on for a while, I didn’t notice them as much, and it was very comfortable.
I was surprised by how supportive this bra is. The cups are molded, and the back straps are adjustable. I found it to be on the high side of medium support even with the straps pretty loose. I wouldn’t run in this bra, but for all other activities, including casual wear, I thought there was plenty of support. It also looks really nice under tanks and doesn’t give the smooshed look.
Lastly, BY used its super soft fabric in this bra. Heaven! I’m used to the slicker Luxtreme fabrics of most of Lulu’s bras, so I was pretty excited about a bra with really soft fabric. It feels great on!
The only downside of this bra is the logo placement. Centered, people, centered! Non-centered logos in odd places are a huge pet peeve of mine. Not only is BY’s logo on the left side of the back instead of in the center, it’s pretty large so ruins the back design a bit. However, it’s definitely not a deal breaker for me.
Overall, I loved this bra and was impressed with the support, style, fabric, and overall quality. I will absolutely consider other BY bras in the future.
The other thing I got in my order was another Lay Low Tank in light grey. Remember when I reviewed my black one, I said I was trying not to buy more? I didn’t succeed! (Please don’t add up the number of grey tanks I bought recently!) Love, love, love this tank. Here are some pics with the tank and bra together.
Both the bra and tank are still on sale for really good prices, even lower than what I paid. (Disclaimer is that I have no disclaimer. In any of my activewear reviews, unless I state otherwise, I’m not an ambassador, didn’t get these for free, and have no affiliate links. I just like sharing what I think, especially when I love something!)
