I haven’t done a Fabletics review in forever, but I’ve bought some things recently. Some pieces worked out and others didn’t, but overall I continue to be very impressed with this discount activewear line. Fabletics is continually offering new designs, styles, colors, and fabrics, improving existing designs (for example, with the addition of bra cups in seamless bras), and just added sneakers to its lineup. Following is a review of recent pieces I’ve tried from them.
I loved a lot of the September release and bought two outfits, including this one that includes Salar Leggings and Karlie Tunic. The Salar Leggings and crops are hands-down those I reach for the most in my activewear wardrobe. They’re comfortable, opaque, have a knit-like fabric I really like, and have an open pocket in the waistband that’s perfect for keys. I own more Salar tights than any other brand. They’ve held up well through washings; I’ve only had one pair that formed a tear in the seam. When I saw this beautiful design, I had to have this pair. Patterened Salars typically have a slightly different, slicker fabric, but they usually fit the same. These tights have a bit of slickness in the patterned part, but otherwise they fit and feel the same as regular Salars. The pattern is gorgeous in person!
The tank that’s part of this outfit is new. It’s a bit of a heavier, more structured fabric with two mesh strips on the side. The mesh is also a heavier, structured mesh. I ordered it in a size medium, and it’s a relaxed fit without feeling too big. Note that the mesh strips are a bit more revealing than I thought they’d be. If I lean over and have a muffin top, you can see it. Aside from that, I liked the tank itself and the Cabaret color enough to keep it. The color is the same as the capris I review below.
Fabletics has been releasing some new fabrics in their Power series. I read some bad reviews for the Powerlite Gia Capris so had been hesitant to try it. Finally I decided to give them a try when I ordered the Drew outfit, which includes the capris and the Jeanie Seamless Top.
I really like the fabric in the capris. It’s a slick, soft, and very lightweight fabric. I don’t love very slick fabrics, but it’s not overly slick. The fabric is not, however, very compressive. This is part of the negative feedback that reviewers gave. While not highly compressive, they didn’t show bumps and imperfections like other reviewers said. They were also opaque on me.
These run big. I ordered them in my typical size medium, and they felt roomier than any other bottoms I’ve tried from Fabletics. They don’t have a drawstring, so I do worry about them sliding down. Also, this is the only pair of tights that were big and gapped significantly at the bottom hem.
There are three pockets–a waterproof, zippered pocket in the back and two pockets at the hip. It used to be that only Lulemon included more than one pocket, so it’s awesome that more and more brands are adding pockets. I love that the zippered pocket is waterproof, but it’s not a large pocket. I have the smallest size of iPhone from a few generations ago, and it doesn’t fit. If I try hard I can get it in and zip it when I’m not wearing the capris, but there’s no way I could get it out and back in with them on. It would work well for keeping tissues dry though! The hip pockets are the same size as the back pocket. I can put my phone in it with some effort, but it wouldn’t be easier to access. Plus, putting bulky stuff in the hip pockets wouldn’t be ideal because who wants extra bulk at the hip. But gels and keys would fit fine.
Because of the pockets and light fabric, I at first thought these would be great for running. But I do worry about them sliding down. There is no drawcord.
I’m on the fence about what to do about these. I’m hesitant to size down because I fear they’d be too small, but I think they’re just a tad too big for me. Overall I really like them, though.
I should also note that I tried the another new fabric in the Powerform Dhyana Capris, and they ran very small. The medium was too small for me. One thing I don’t like about Fabletics is the inconsistent sizing. Only the Salars are a consistent size.
I absolutely love the Jeanie Seamless Top that was part of this outfit. It’s very soft and comfortable. The top in the front and back plus the arms are mesh. This would be a great feature for running on chilly days.
I ordered this in size medium. It’s fitted without being tight. It does run on the short side, coming to the top of the hip.
This top would also work well for casual wear. I can see wearing it on a night out this fall. I really loved this top and am keeping it.
I don’t have pictures, but I should mentioned that during a sale I bought the Lawson outfit, which includes the Mallow Tank and Elena Mini Skirt. I bought mediums in both. I brought it on vacation and wore it a ton. The tank was a little dressier and looks awesome with a strappy bra because the back is cut low. The only thing is that the straps slid down a little. The mini skirt was so comfortable. I wore it as both a coverup over my bathing suit and out to dinner.
